At last, something new on SlowDownNow.org
Posted on January 3rd, 2008 by Christopher
This piece started as posting for creativity and action, with which to stimulate a conversation about resistance, that anti-creative force that stops us from doing authentic creative acts.
But you know how it is, one thing leads to another and it is now on the main site as Muse and Anti-Muse (Resistance is futile).
Starting something new is tough. And that’s what this essay is about. How about you? What is your muse like? Are you slow enough to see her? Or maybe you have a gentleman muse.
Beware of the anti-muse, she who distracts you and leaves you exhausted in a state of pique.

Just found your web site. What a great site! What a great way to live! I love it! Wish I had found it sooner. Have a wonderful-slow-New Year!
I’d love to one day use your last line of this post (”Beware of the anti-muse”) as a quote on my site! Shall I just say Christopher at http://www.blog.slowdownnow.org or would you prefer I use your whole name?
Lena,
Thanks for the kind words.
Lyn,
Please help yourself to the anti-muse saying. “Beware the anti-muse” are words to live by, rather like, always be kind to your socks, you never know when one will leave you.
Never take a rabbit to a job interview. Always drink tea from a cup. Never play golf on a busy freeway. Don’t lick street signs in winter. Never argue while asleep.
If I had an anti-muse like your Brenda, Chris, I think I would also find her rather distracting!
Anyway, a most amusing article… In these days of the Internet and 3 squillion brands of tea, is it becoming harder and harder to not just be permanently distracted…?
Marie,
Thank you for the kind words. I agree. It’s much less effort to write in your own language. And thanks for the post on your site too.
